CHAPTER 1
THIS WE BELIEVE
We believe in a dynamic connection between life and literacy—where the words we read, write, hear, speak, and see have the power to either enrich or diminish the quality of our lives and relationships. This connection calls for a mindful approach to literacy, one that goes beyond utilitarianism. It invites us to cultivate literacy habits and practices that empower and elevate our everyday lives, shaping not only our learning but the very essence of how we live and engage the world.
That’s why we’ve created something different, literacy lessons that teach more than academic literacy but also essential life skills. Your child will not only master reading and writing but also learn how to tackle real-world challenges, improve their quality of life, stay rooted in faith, and build a strong foundation for success.
Rooted in this belief, we help homeschooling families with elementary age children bridge the gap between academic literacy and life skills. As homeschooling parents, we know how much you pour into your child’s education—the love, the time, the endless effort to give them the best. We also know how frustrating it can feel when traditional curricula separate core subjects like math and language arts from the practical life skills your child needs to thrive in the real world. This leaves you buying additional resources and spending more time planning lessons to bridge this gap —time and money you’d much rather spend simply being present with your child.

Like a sturdy foundation supports a house, the alphabet supports all aspects of literacy, enabling individuals to build their understanding of language and express their thoughts. Without a solid grasp of the alphabet, the ability to engage with language in meaningful ways would falter.
The Family Alphabet is as essential to a home as the traditional alphabet is to language. Just as letters form the foundation for communication, the virtues and values in a spiritual alphabet—such as love, kindness, patience, and forgiveness—create the framework for a thriving, harmonious household…continue reading
